"The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,
that he will send forth laborers into his harvest." (Matthew 9:37-38)

The greatest need in missions today is for dedicated servants of God to be willing to go to the people with the Gospel, to win them to Christ, disciple them, and establish New Testament churches.

There are two primary avenues for missionary service with CBM:

  1. Church Planting Missionaries: Church Planters are full time servants of God with a pioneering spirit willing to go into communities in America and Canada where there is not a fundamental church reaching the people and establish one.

Missionary Church Planters may know of a community where they feel burdened to start a church.  If not, CBM will work with the missionary to gather the demographic information to target a community.

Career Church Planting or "Start and Stay": CBM seeks to serve church planters who have a desire to start several churches, or the missionary who desires to start one church and stay as the pastor.

  1. Building Missionaries:  Builder Missionaries are full time servants using their construction skills to build church facilities for mission churches.

 Qualifications for Missionary Service:

  1. A genuine faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  2. An active member and faithfully serving in an independent, fundamental Baptist church.
  3. A call of God upon your life for missionary service that is recognized by your local church.  Your church must recommend you for service with CBM.
  4. Spiritually mature leader and student of the Bible.
  5. A proven soul winner and disciple maker.
  6. Education: At least a Bible institute diploma.  College and seminary training is best but not required. Spiritual maturity and a history of effective service in local church ministries are essential. Those entering the building ministry are not required to have formal ministry training.  They will be required to give a written and verbal defense of the fundamentals of the faith and Baptist distinctives.
